About McCamy Quarter Horses

McCamy Quarter Horses was established in 1984 by Brad and Kelli McCamy, in Lucas Texas.  The business originally began specializing in western pleasure futurity events, and assisting youth and amateurs in western pleasure and all around events.

Brad & Kelli trained and successfully showed horses such as I Am A Sweet One, Check My Credit, Favre Mr. Sabre, and RD Red Hot Lover.  These are just a few horses that won many of the major futurities in the U.S. beginning in 1985.  All these horses later became famous show horses and had lengthy careers with their youth and/or amateur riders.

In the fall of 1988, Brad & Kelli purchased a yearling stallion named Impulsions.  Brad had years of experience showing and breeding The Invester, which was Impulsions' sire.  In addition, Brad and Kelli had already enjoyed great success showing The Invester bloodline and were partial to it.  This young stallion was definitely love at first sight for Brad and Kelli; together, the three of them would make history.

Impulsions turned out to be the greatest show horse that Brad & Kelli had ever seen.  And, in many ways, his success in the show ring (and, later, as a sire), would frame their careers both as trainers and advocates of the breed.

In 1989, Impulsions' Two Year Old year begain with top-ten finishes in the first futurities of the season and was capped by an astounding ride under Kelli in the Two Year Old World Championship Futurity at the AQHA World Championship Show, for which he earned a unanimous 1st under all five judges.  He was back the next year, and won the Championship title at the prestigious Solid Gold Futurity and was Champion of the Three Year Old Derby at the All American Quarter Horse Congress.  Impulsions was then retired, having won all major titles by the end of his three year old year.

McCamy Quarter Horses — now based in Aubrey, Texas — continues to breed, train, and show quality western horses with an emphasis on conformation, soundness, and good minds.  Following Impulsions' retirement from the show ring, Brad & Kelli have continued to train and show very successfully, with their specialty being western pleasure.  They continue to work with amateur and youth in western pleasure futurity events as well as other performance events at the AQHA and Appaloosa shows.

After 1990, Brad & Kelli have trained and/or shown many top show horses, including...
